The Summer Reading Club, regular Children’s Programs, and many local organizations will benefit from this addition to library equipment.  FOL funds are also going to prizes for the Summer Reading Club (Volunteers: see Help Kids with Summer Reading!)

This year, FoL will sponsor a library staff employee to attend Leadership Granbury. Leadership Granbury offers a unique opportunity to acquire more information about the institutions and organizations that make this community work and thrive. The program requires a committment of 1 day each month (September through May) and at several social events throughout the session that will educate participants about Granbury’s past, present and future, both locally and as a part of Texas.

Donations to the Kathleen Johnson Memorial Fund allowed FoL to fulfill a dream of Hood County Childrens’ Librarian Courtney Kincaid.

Childrens’ events are generally held in the Jeanell Morris Room of the Library, which has wood floors. With winter coming on, a rug is needed more than ever for children to gather ’round and sit during Reading Hour and other Childrens’ programs.

FoL was able to use donations to the Kathleen Johnson Memorial Fund totaling almost $500 to purchase the perfect rug for this purpose!

Many thanks to the 14 donors who helped FoL to honor Kathleen Johnson’s lifelong dedication to childrens’ reading issues and her service as a former President of FoL.

The Hood County Library Summer Reading Program, sponsored in part by the FOL, winds-up today with a Grande Finale featuring magician Todd McKinney, cool watermelon events, and other fun!
