Long-time Friends’ supporter and former President, Eloise B. Ikard, 87, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at her Granbury residence. She was an often present Volunteer at the Friends’ semi-annual Book Sales. Eloise much enjoyed playing bridge and working crossword puzzles. In her honor, her “bridge playing friends” have made donations to start a Memorial [...] This Fall, Dr. Nancy Luton, daughter of Doris Zweifel Luton, renewed her contribution to the Doris Zweifel Luton Memorial Fund. Doris was a Granbury native, resident, and former teacher. She began her 10-year career as an English teacher at Granbury High School in 1957. In addition, she was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver [...] Donations to the Kathleen Johnson Memorial Fund allowed FoL to fulfill a dream of Hood County Childrens’ Librarian Courtney Kincaid. Childrens’ events are generally held in the Jeanell Morris Room of the Library, which has wood floors. With winter coming on, a rug is needed more than ever for children to gather ’round and sit during [...] Kathleen Johnson passed away July 1st at the Harbor Lakes Nursing and Rehab Center. Kathleen was instrumental in the reorganization of the Friends of the Library for Hood County in 1997, serving as the first President of the newly reorganized group. The Friends of the Library honored her with a Life Membership in 2007. [...] |
